(Heating, Cooling, Hot Water)

The Four Square designed for the Hidden Springs conservation community features cost neutral enclosure and mechanical upgrades that allow the builder to construct high performance homes while remaining competitive in the housing market. Advanced framed wood stud walls with both cavity and rigid insulation and high performance windows combine to create a superior thermal barrier. Additional square footage is captured in the attic by installing insulation to the underside of the roof deck. Ducts located in conditioned space along with high efficiency mechanical equipment and outside air supply ventilation result in reduced heating and cooling loads. The home operates using 40% less energy for heating, cooling and hot water than a home built to code in 2002, saving money for both the builder and homeowner.
